The Scrapbook Throwdown Day 3

Hello Again!

I really wanted to catch up today so I am submitting my second post of the day to be on day 3 of the Scrapbook Throwdown. This has been so much fun and has caused me to scrapbook some of my own pics for a change.

Okay, so today I pulled out the sewing machine and went to stitching. I actually enjoy do stitching on my projects and my cards are what got me started, I would say that 85% of my handmade cards have stitching on them somewhere. I believe it gives the project a certain element that says I want this project to be really special. Because it takes effort to pull out that machine just for a few stitches!

My layout today is my sweet grandson, you won't get to see his adorable face on this one Simply his SWEET little feet, in the hands of mommy and daddy. I stitched around the entire 12x12 border creating a nice edge that I generously distressed. I inked most of the edges of each element and stitched around the layered matte of my photo. There are 3 different kinds of stitches in my layout and some didn't require thread. I had the opportunity to use some new acrylic stamps by MME and also a metal crown that I've been wanting to use. I'm tempted to put a little gesso on it. I had even painted a piece of the corrugated part of some cardboard and finally got to use it. Check out the pics:

COLOR SCHEME CHALLENGE

Well yesterday I had such a hard time trying to link up my page and just found out what the problem was! I forgot to update my blog first. Oh well, so I actually kept UP I just didn't link UP right. So today you will see two post from me (hopefully.)

After going through my stash I found a Super Cute pic of my now 17 year old daughter that fit perfectly! This picure was acutally taken on a warm Winter day at the zoo. She had on cutesy leopard ensemble including leopard leggings, collar and headband. She was quite the fashionista for the zoo. I love these pictures as she stared back at mommy pointing at everything, while resting very confidently on daddy's shoulders. What a cutie!

I tried to use all of these arctic color choices and blend in the brown hues. I also had to cut about 1x2 inches from my photos and just used the strips on the layout just for fun, "waste not, want not " right? This was fun challenge and less all the hoopla with the linking to the Scrapbook Throwdown page I had a great time!

Day One - 4 x 6 SCRAPBOOK THROWDOWN

Hello There Craft Folks!

Just wanted to share some super fun stuff with you today I recently won a spot in the Scrapbook Throwdown Hosted by Latrice Murphy. There will be 10 challenges with 10 different themes. I am really looking forward to it and I am hoping that I will be able to keep up.

Today I was burning rubber trying to get this Layout done before midnight and I just might make it ( If I don't get too wordy.) The challenge today was to create a layout using 4x6 pics. I created this layout of me and my two daughters. It features a line of designer paper by BoBunny called "Olivia." I did a bit of stitching on the edges of the background paper as well as stitching on the rickrack and ribbon across the top. I cut out some of the flowers from one of the sheets and punched out a bird using the front and back of the same line of paper. Pink chipboard letters and a jewel flourish. I also tied some green toile around the matte of the picture. It's not very elaborate or heavily embellished but I like it. The designer papers are so lovely it doesn't need much.

Well I think I made it! Hoping to do better next time. Check my blog tomorrow to see if I kept up!

Hello Crafty Peoples,

I am back from the CHA Conference & Tradeshow, held in Anaheim, California. It was definitely beautiful & sunny, but I am so glad to be back home. This was no leisure trip! We were busy from the time we got there up until the day we left. Day one and two included taking classes with Donna Downey & Ania Dabrowska, designers for Prima. Here are a couple of pics:

I know! I know! This is totally not me but I learned some really neat stuff!!! I was so inspired that I worked on a couple of projects of my own. I went out today and bought a few things so that I could get busy! I don't want to loose the creative mood I'm in. I made some mixed media type journaling books that I think came out pretty nice. I used gesso, mod podge, paint and other ephemera type elements. Here's my work.

Frames are from Michael's, paper note trim is a new release from Bazzill called Perfectly Pleated, Tim Holtz key hole that's been painted with gesso. DP is a new release from Prima ( Soooo Pretty )

CHA Here We Come and Other Good Stuff

Hello Just checking in with some Fun News and Some Creative Designs. I might have mentioned it a while back that Jane the owner of the Scrapbooking Factory invited me to go along with her to the

CHA Winter Conference & Trade Show well that day is here and we are heading out in the morning. I am really grateful for the opportunity and I am looking forward to gleaning some great ideas from some of the experts. We will be visiting the Prima Warehouse, taking classes & SHOPPING for new product lines for the store. There are some great new lines of papers out there and I can't wait to see them in person!!

Before I head out just wanted to share some fun projects that we have been doing over at Crafting by Designs. I previously hosted the chipboard challenge and this week I hosted the challenge using Sparkle, Glitter and Bling.

First up the Chipboard Challenge. I created a mini-book, using the Tim Holtz body form die with buttons & spool.

Here is my Sparkly, Glittery, Blingy Project. I created this lovely card and I think it turned out pretty nice. I wish you could see all of the sparkle. I actually did a lot to this card. I die cut the bird & cage from chipboard. I painted, sanded and added glitter and diamond dust to the bird. I made the cutesy little rosette from the a Tim Holtz die which is a really fun.

I wish I could show some but its 3 minutes until 2am and I've got to get a power nap in so I can wake up in a couple of hours to get ready to head out to the airport! Well I report on the trip when I get back and hopefully Jane and I will get some neat pics. Hey you can always follow me on FB because I'll definitely be posting there.

Loving the New Year

I truly blessed with all of the wonderful things the New Year is bringing and I'm praying that I can stay on track with all of the new activities going on. I have some really exciting news that I'd like to share with you, Jane Pfeiffer with The Scrapbooking Factory invited me to go along with her to the CHA Conference and Trade Show in California in a couple of weeks, what a wonderful opportunity and I feel so special to be asked to go! She told me that we are going to be Super Busy and not a lot of down time. She has signed us up for lots of classes and I'm looking forward to learning a bunch of new techniques & crafts which I'll also be sharing with you So STAY TUNED!!!

I do want to share a revamped, re-altered project.with you. I recently made a lovely whimsical house for Christmas and unfortunately it didn't sell because I got it into the shop too late. I hated to have to store it away until December so I thought, why not change it up a bit for Valentines Day!! Here's my finished project ...

Next I have a little sneak preview of a project that I am working on for Crafting by Designs. I am hosting the challenge next week and the theme is using Chipboard. So here's just a little view of what I've done so far. It's a mini album using chipboard and I also used the Tim Holtz body form die and cut out the shape with chipboard. Here's a sneaky peek...

Gearing Up for the New Year

Hello Crafty Folks,
Just getting back from a mini holiday to Oklahoma last week and in that small amount of time I feel a little lost. So many things to do and not knowing where to begin. Well today I just jumped right in and started doing a little of each one by one. I accomplished a lot today but there are always tons more waiting in the wings!

I am so blessed to have a Heavenly Father who watches over me as I go clumsily through life, moving about trying to make ends meet and sometimes I fail miserably and HE is there to help me put the pieces in their proper order. Thank you LORD!!

Today I have a layout kit to share with you that I designed for Jane with The Scrapbooking Factory. These kits will be for sale at her retreats and I thought it was pretty nice as I made it hastily trying to get back into the crafting groove. This kit was designed with the My Minds Eye Lost & Found 2. This is such a cutesy paper, a few embellishments is all that's needed to make this Layout a success.

Feeling Special & New Class Coming Up

Just got a great line of paper in at the Scrapbooking Factory from a company called Simple Stories, their paper is wonderful. As a designer for the Scrapbooking Factory I have the opportunity to try out new product lines and even fun tools! I thoroughly enjoy designing for Jane, she gives me lots of freedom and she selects great products! In January she will be offering an altered composition book class, which I will be teaching. I came up with a really fun design using the Simple Stories line called

Here's a sneak peak of the altered composition book, complete with a cutesy buckle for a closer.

This is just the front and back but there bunches of cute stuff on the inside. I'll get to post more later. If you're in the San Antonio Area and possibly interested in taking the class, please check The Scrapbooking Factory FB page for details.

Whimsical Winter

Hello Everyone!

It's been pretty dreary around these parts of San Antonio, Texas. For about a week now all we've had is rainy, overcast, dark clouds and fog, but that has not dampened my desire to create. I've turned the dreary into dreamy and created a few designs for you to check out.

This is the first little house I created using a papermache house and designer paper by Martha Stewart. I really adored her Christmas line of paper, it was filled with reds, mint, white & grey. There were beautiful foil sheets of solids & prints. It really inspired me to create these little houses. I used Christmas sprigs and a blingy swirl from Micheal's, buttons from my stash & and small resin frame from Melissa Frances.


This house is actually larger with some of the same types of embellishments

Next I used another papermache box and decorated with the designer paper by Martha Stewart and topped it with a Christmas Sprig!

Lastly is a Christmas Tree with curls of the foil design paper from MS, this picture didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped but it is gorgeous in person.

I want to share something cutesy with you today, O how I wish I had a better camera, lighting and the skills to take good pictures...that will be my next skill to learn. But until then, I would like to share with you a sweet little house I made. This time I was inspired by Martha Stewart's Christmas paper, it is soooo me, very whimsical and sparkly. Here it goes:

So Excited About My Minds Eye

Just wanted to share some Super Fun news!!! I recently posted a picture of my Whimsy mini Christmas Trees on the My Minds Eye face book page and guess what??!! They contacted me and asked my permission to post my pic on their blog in one of their segments call "Caught My Eye" I am so excited about this. They are even going to send me a little "somethin' somethin' " as a thank you ! How cool is that? I am posting a pic of my little trees and they are supper easy to make.

Instructions: Using your favorite scraps make 4 graduated sizes of circles using punches, or you can use your Cricut or diecuts. I made my circles 2, 1 3/4, 1 1/4 and 1 inches. I also inked the edges, punched a hole in the center of each circle and used a small a dowel (or you can you a chopstick) to run the circles through.You can make it as tall as you want I think I used between 18 to 20 circles. After adding the circles to the dowel, I applied mod podge with a small paint brush randomly around the circles and sprinkled on some diamond dust (love that stuff, it's like little shards of crystals.) I also topped each tree with a little star ( I used two to sandwich in the top of the dowel. I also cut out stars using felt. I used old thread spools for the base and glued a strip of my fav paper and some lace for a finishing touch. Stick your tree into the spool and voila you're done! These little whimsies are so much fun to do and you can distress the circles as much as you want; glimmer mist, paint, you can add sentiments and a stick pin to the lace...the possibilities are endless!!!

Happy Thanksgiving & Crafty Goings On!

First I wanted to wish everyone the most Blessed Thanksgiving of All! I pray that everyone will have a moment to sit and relax and enjoy all the wonderful things that the LORD has blessed you with. I am so grateful for a great many things and the most important blessing of all is my Salvation!! I praise the LORD for giving me a new life in HIM and a Beautiful family to share my life with.

I have a few things to share today before I am off to start my Thanksgiving festivities...Cleaning, Cooking and Lot's of tasting!

This Week at Crafting by Designs I hosted the challenge. The theme was love and I needed to come up with a sample that would include the word LOVE and or a heart. Here's my sample:


My Love tag with a hint of Christmas, tag is green & white and the house has textured snow paint on the roof.

Next I have few kraft bags that I decorated using of course the MME paper that I adore so much!

Here is a pic of a painter's tray I am altering. This is such a fun project and I don't know when I'll be finished with it, there is always more embellishing to be done, but I want to make sure I leave room for pictures.

Lastly I got a new Tim Holtz die and it is to die for!! For some reason I am really into seamstress body forms and I think you can do so much with these cuts...If you haven't seen it yet check this out?


Purchased at Joann's it was reg $19.99 they had 40% off dies and I used the Michael's 20% off disc on entire purchase. Woo Hoo!!!

Altered Creations

Hello Crafty Folks!!

One thing I really enjoy doing is taking ordinary things and altering them. There are so many gorgeous designer papers out there to make it happen. If you've followed my blog you've seen items that I've done like altering clipboard or clothespins, jars and I also really enjoy covering paper mache. Today I want to show you one of the orders I'm working on for one of my Fav customers. She gave me 8 composition books and 3 binders and wanted me to "do what I do" and so here is some of what I did and I'm totally night finished:

I'm not great at photography and my backgrounds lack some creativity but hopefully this will spark a little inspiration and you might want to try to. I've also used the front of cereal boxes and the kids really like it.

Inspired to Create

Hello Everyone Just checking in with some more crafty inspirations. Now that the Christmas season is quickly approaching it's time to get into the spirit and get busy. It's time to try some new dessert recipes...some new crafty techniques...and especially for us crafters Michael's and Hobby Lobby are going all out on their Sales on crafts. I am enjoying getting new crafty products. I bought some Snow-Tex by DecoArt the other day and am enjoying it immensely! This is like a textured type paint that simulates snow when it dries, it is a super cool product to try. Today I bought a Glistening Snow Writer also by DecoArt, the label says Create Dimensional Glittery Effects, can't wait to try this. At Hobby Lobby all of their Christmas Craft Supplies are 50% I think it was worth a try.

Today I'd like to share with you a few things that I created for my little shop in Alamo Craft Co.
First I create this card using My Minds Eye Lost & Found I & II. I believe the possibilities are endless with this paper. I also created the scalloped flower using my Tim Holtz die.

Next I created these cutesy bags with scraps left over from my MME stash and I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with them. I knew I didn't want to fill them with candy so I figured I'd make some tags, also using scraps. Actually this was bit of a challenge because when you're designing multiples of smallish projects the detail work can be a bit tedious, but the end results were pretty much worth it, I think.

I used a combination of Cricut ( Christmas Cheer - trees, Bday Bash - banner) Tim Holtz die for the flowers and snowflake punch.

Crafting By Designs Scraps Challenge

Hello Crafty Folks,
Crafting by Designs just had a DT challenge and we were challenged to make a card using scraps...Did they say SCRAPS!!! Look, I am the Scrapmaster and my scraps are categorized by Designer Paper and I am ready to roll. I went to my new MME Lost&Found II stash and pulled out some gorgeous scraps and created this cutesy card. I also used scraps to make my flowers using my 3D Sizzix Die, Spellbinders, and a cutesy acrylic stamp also from the Lost&Found... Here's my card..."All Scraps".

Hello Everyone!!

Just wanted to post a little cutie...I totally cased this from a Somerset mag from several winters ago and have been making them every since. Pretty fun idea! Whenever I case something, I do my best to alter it and make it my owns, so this year I purchased some Snow paint from Michael's and I added it to the top of the cap and sprinkled a little diamond dust on top. It's hard to see from the pic but at lease you can see my little " Genuine Snowman."

Getting In The Spirit

Hello Everyone!! It took me quite awhile to get back here but I have been so busy it's amazing. I don't see how other crafty bloggers do it. They are able to keep up with their blogs consistently. I had a good run there for awhile but then life happens! Well, one of the most daunting things happened which really hampered my posting was loosing my I-phone. It's sounds ridiculous but I had everything on that phone, it was like a mobile personal library of congress for me. All of my pics for my postings and it was so easy to blog with that thing. I think I relied on it so much that when it was lost/stolen (because someone took it, started using it and didn't return i) it took away my drive to post and I suppose that's not a good thing. I have probably lost lots of followers over this and well I guess I sorta deserve it. Well for now I'm going to try to pick up the pieces and move on.

I am going to share one of my new creations for Christmas ( my FAV holiday) and one project that I am teaching:

I used 1x3 inch strips of the MME Lost & Found, adhere strips to a paper mache cone shape with Modgepodge, sprinkled on diamond dust for a little twinkle.

Next for one of my classes we made this neat Christmas Tree wood album by Kaiser Kraft and here are the pics:

I truly enjoyed teaching this class!!

Hello Everyone

Work! Work! Work!

Hello All,

Trying to get myself acclimated to homeschooling and my very busy schedule has all but been a major challenge. I won't even go into details...it would be exhausting for me and boring for you. The most important thing that I could probably say today is that GOD is so GOOD and FAITHFUL and without HIM I would surely fail.

I just wanted to share a few quick things. I am working really hard with Jane at The Scrapbooking Factory to get layouts done for the CKC Scrapbooking Convention in San Marcus, Texas. I am planning on going to help out with sales. I haven't been to a Scrapbooking Convention in a few years so I'm really looking forward to it. Here is one of the layouts I was working on. This paper is called Alphabet Soup by MME, they have such wonderful designers.

I recently accepted a position in our groups Homeschools Steering Committee. I will oversee the Mom Night Outs and the LORD blessed me with a wonderful group of ladies to coordinate these events. September 11th, will be our debut and we are really working hard to make this a fantastic night. We chose primary colors to go along with our "Back To School Theme." To of the Mom's came over this evening and we had a wonderful time together; eating stuffed crescents, sipping loose leaf tea and crafting. The sweetest part of all was the evening was spent Praising the LORD and speaking of all of His Wonderful Works in our lives. We actually got it all done in a couple of hours. This is my desire, that the LORD be exalted in my life above all of the busy, above all of the rush...that the LORD would settle me and keep me still. I pray that I will never forget to stop and look up at the beauty of the Heavens and to always desire to be with my LORD. AMEN

You know this is pretty ridiculous when you don't even have enough time to update your BLOG!
I wouldn't blame you one bit if you didn't come to visit me. BUT PLEASE don't stop visiting me!! you all help to inspire me. I am really going to try to do better. I have been working feverishly on many things and a great deal of it does have to do with crafting. I wanted to post something so I decided to show you some of the the layouts that I create for Jane at the Scrapbooking Factory. I really enjoy doing layouts and I know that I don't post them often, but I guess it's because it's more of a work thing?? Anyway, usually when I create these Layouts for the store I concentrate on using a product line. I really like using the MME & Echo Park...they have Great designer paper.

Commotions & Creations

Hello All of my Wonderful Crafty Friends,

I have been so busy it is unbelievable, all this week I have not gone to bed before 2:45am. The latest I have stayed up is until 4am. It is so crazy!! I am working with Jane at the Scrapbooking Factory to get kits done for the CKC convention. I really enjoy creating layouts but it can be very time consuming trying to come up with designs for different layouts. I'll have to take a picture of my workspace sometimes to show you what a big production it is. My husband and family are so sweet about letting me use up my space and their as well; Critiquing my work as they pass by and I'm really quick to call one of my sons to help pick up a gazillion buttons off the the floor because I dropped the container. I have one son who is a pro at finding my little blingy crystals when I drop one.

Okay on to my creations, besides creating layouts for Jane, I also create designs for paper craft classes. This week Jane gave me a project with what we thought was a wood album by Kaiser Craft but it only contained two rectangular pieces of wood...Eek!! Well they were front and back covers but no pages, so I put on my SC (Super Crafter) cape and set out to make some lemonade. With a little ingenuity and brain exhaustion, I design an accordion fold to create the pages. I think it turned out pretty cute. I used paper by MME called Stella & Rose...Great Paper!!! Well that's it for now...well not really but that's all the time I have to post today...remember back in June my son broke his arm, well he's doing much better. Yesterday I caught him hanging in the tree...is his harm all healed you ask....NO, he still has to wear a brace!! Well today is his doctors appointment and well see if he's done any damage. Not to mention the big scar on his elbow right next to wear they inserted the medal rod! Oh well boys will boys.

Blessings & Challenges

Hello All !!
It's beginning to get really busy around my camp and I am getting antsy for school to start. Being a home school mom can be exciting and scary at the same time. You want to make sure everything is in order, you don't want to miss anything in your child's curriculum and this year I have my first Senior!! Talk about pressure and it is crafting that helps to ease some of the tension. I so enjoy being a designer for The Scrapbooking Factory...it's like a little release because I enjoy what I'm doing. However nothing can surpass a good daily dose of GOD's Word to keep me grounded. I am so grateful that through all of the pressure and headaches and chaos, I know that the LORD is right there holding me up. My power scripture is Isaiah 41:10:

Fear thou not; for I am with thee:

be not dismayed for I am Thy GOD:

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;

yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand

of my righteousness.

AMEN!!

Well Today I wanted to share a challenge that I participated in with Crafting By Design. We were challenged to use scraps for CAS (clean and simple) Card. The challenge was specific as we had to use 3 patterned strips, one solid, include ribbon (eek I forgot the ribbon) and a sentiment. Well guess what I was ready. You know the top portion of DP that you usually cut off but shows what the design of the paper is on the other side. Well I just can't see clear to through them away sometimes because their so cute and I just know ONE DAY I'll be able to use them. Well my day came and I made my card, HURRAY!!! Here's my project:

Before I go just wanted to show you something cute & pink that I made for my little crafty shop. I used some sweet paper by Fancy Pants called the Girl's Paperie. I am so sad because my stash is coming to it's end I have used this paper in everything and I believe that the Scrapbooking Factory only has a couple of sheets left. After I finish posting this I think I'd better go get it before someone us does :0(

The little triangular box is so cute, you can dress it up any way you want and can also be created in different sizes. You can check out the tutorial here at Splitcoast Stampers. The little scalloped purse was created using a 4 inch scalloped circle. Aren't they just stinkin' cute.

Hello All

Just checking in to share some Love, Some Crafts & Some Findings

I have been Working Super hard trying to get my crafting juices flowing and it has been hard! I feel sad for my family, especially my husband as I am encroaching upon everyone's space with all of my craft stuff!! My DH is so sweet he won't say much of anything about all of my stuff being everywhere, but I know that it is beginning to work a nerve. I told him he could easily solve that problem by getting me that red two story barn portable that they have displayed at Lowe's. He just looks at me and smiles. Well anyway here is what I've came up with so far...at least I have items to put in my space at the Alamo Craft Co.

The Neat thing about this sweet little paper mache house is that it is also a box and can be used to package a gift or to store things...endless possibilities. I really enjoyed making this house, it took me several days because I continued to add something and then something else. I'm pretty satisfied with it, but I haven't taken it to the store yet so there may be more possibilities that await this little house.

Recipe: Paper mache house - Hobby Lobby, MME- Lost & Found, rosettes-Recollections-Michael's, heart shaped keyhole-Tim Holtz, Cricut Banner- Birthday Bash, Prima lace...an assortment of buttons, organza ribbon, other embellishments and glitter.

Next "It's In The BAG"  One of my favorite Items to create is the ordinary paper sandwich bags.  There are so many different styles that you can make with these bags and I really enjoy embellishing them to my hearts content.  Sometimes it is necessary for me to get out of my comfort zones of the pinks & whites and try something a little different.  I totally fell for a wonderful alternative with the Echo Park line called "For The Record"  This is an amazing ensemble of Red, yellow, greens, blues & white.  There's even red and white polka dots!  My Favorite design! I have chosen a few of the pages to share with you, but each page is generously decorated with fun embellies.  I even used grunge paper ( Tim Holtz) and die cut a butterfly and crackle painted it white (4th pic.)  This line also has some great die cuts which I have used throughout.

Here are a few cards that I also created this week, which I will be adding to my card collection at the craft mall. I am hoping that they don't stick around long...maybe someone might want to bless someone special with them...

I'm so glad to be finally getting out of my drought. It's pretty intense when you have all that you need to craft with and can't produce any work. I think sometimes you may have too much and your brain gets a bit overwhelmed. At any rate I'm slowly working myself back. Also being involved with challenges can be an encouragement, so if you haven't joined a site that has weekly or monthly challenges, I think you should. You can learn so much from others as well as throwing in your creativity into the pot.

Just a quick update on my class last Saturday....

I had a great time at The Scrapbooking Factory monthly retreat located in the Marriott at the RIM. I went in only expecting a class of two and ended up teaching a class of 9. I had a great time! Jane ( the owner) is expecting the new line of My Minds Eye (Lost & Found 2) Echo Park papers and more to come in soon. I Can't Wait!!! I am so excited, she knows that when that paper comes in and it's time to stock it in the store I am there! Take a peak at some of this paper she's expecting, it is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

Just wanted to share some work I was commissioned to do for my friends store ( Alamo Craft Co.) I really enjoy making banners and this was lots of fun. I used two different Cricut Carts: Once Upon A Princess and Paisley. I made them rather larger between 7 and 8 inches. Lot's of glitter and some wiggle eyes.My favorite die is the turtle on the end.

I will also be teaching at mini scrapbook class for Jane over the Scrapbooking Factory retreat. I really like doing mini albums as well. These little projects are perfect for using left over embellishments and scraps. Check out what I will be teaching:

Hello Crafty Folks!

Just desiring to be a little consistent with my post and I have a few things to share with you today. We have a new challenge at Crafting by Designs, we are creating projects using the Cricut or Die Cuts. I really enjoy using my Cricut, Dies & Punches it adds such a wonderful element to creations. Right now I am hearting ice cream cones and Angie Kennedy Juda SU demonstrator had the perfect project card. It was perfect for my newly purchased ( only used once ) petal cone die by SU. This was a "must case" project and you can see her video on her Chicn'Scratch site .

Next I created a few other cards that really made me happy. I am currently in a crafting slump and creations are just not flowing. But here are two cards that hopefully will get me moving again: Here's my cards:

Summer Theme Challenge & Great Deals

I don't know how it is where you are but the Summer here in Texas is purrrrty Hot Y'all !!! We are also going through a draught which isn't much fun either. So to keep Summer fun with a new sizzlin' challenge Crafting By Designs has come up with a Super hot challenge to create a card with a Summer theme. Well if you know anything about me if I can make it pink I'll do it. I think if I had to do something for Halloween, some how or another I would find a way to make it pink. So here's my design, it probably wouldn't last long in the heat but it will last on this paper....yummy I hope you enjoy :-)

I guess the only fall back with challenges for me is trying to rush to get it done and then I look at the finished project after I have posted it and I see so many different things I could have done to make it cuter. I wished I had stitched around the card....added a few criss-cross lines on the cone...made a faux stitching around the scallops... Maybe next time.

I think I could definitely call my self a stamp collector and I don't mean postage. I really like getting sentiment stamps and Michael's just put out the greatest stamps for a $1. It is such an excellent deal and the stamps are wonderful. I hope your local Michael's carries them. Check it out!

Color Combos & Sew Cute Things

If you don't know already Simply Scrapping Crafts has closed it's site and it was so sad to see it go. Judy (the owner of the site) was a really sweet lady but had a myriad of problems concerning her health and was unable to keep up with the daunting task of running such a huge site. It was a sad day for many of us but upward an onward we go.

You know the say that when one door closes another one opens and so I am excited to say that another site has been developed by two of the former DT Stars at Simply Scrapping Crafts, Angie and Doris. These ladies are fantastic and I am so thrilled to be working with them again. The new site Crafting By Designs is small right now but we're just getting started, but it is generating much creativity already. We had a beautiful color combo challenge that I would like to share with you today.


We needed to choose at least two colors from the picture to create a card inspiration.

Here is my take on the color combo

If you take look at the color combo picture that was given for inspiration, I chose to use the colors from the striped pillow cushions. I used the white, light blues, light tans & cream colors.

Next I'd like to share some of my sewing creations. I am really excited about these creations. I wanted to find some beautiful materials so I went to Memories by The Yard. I rarely go in there because I am not a seamstress and frankly I am quite intimidated. It's like going to French restaurant in France and not knowing the language and you don't have a clue as to what to order. Well that would be my analogy for going into a specialty fabric shop...I DON"T SPEAK THE LANGUAGE!!!! Anyway I managed not embarrass myself and bought a fat quarter of material ( yes I learned the term fat quarter.) Here are the little pillows I made with the material:

Lastly I want to share a purse that I learned how to make from a tutorial on Angie Juda's site called Chic'n Scratch. You can click the link and it will take you directly the tutorial. She is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and she does amazing projects. Remember I am not a seamstress but I followed her tutorial step by step and look what I created!!

Greetings My Crafty Friends!!!

Today I am participating in a Birthday Blog Hop with Yvonne a new crafty friend I recently met at Simply Scrapping Crafts. She is celebrating her one year anniversary for her blogsite One Creative Momma. I am extremely happy for her and I am so glad that she let me join in. I have already visited the other blogs participating in this hop and all I can say is WOW!!! so I hope that you will hop along with us and participate in all of the fun.

The theme for this hop is Birthdays, so here are the projects I have for you today:

This card was created with cardstock patterned paper (Fancy Pants, Bazzill,) trim ( Prima) and organza ribbon I used a doily (Little Yellow Bicycle) as a background for the three tiered cake ( Once Upon a Princess cart.)Bling - My Minds Eye and a little Happy Birthday Pennant.

I enjoyed creating this little cupcake I cut out a cupcake from the Birthday Bash cartridge and also traced and cut out the same pattern with white felt. I layered the two cupcake cutouts and stitched together. I used a corrugated box to cut out a cupcake wrapper which I peeled off one layer and painted it white. I attached ribbon and a crinkled bow, embellishing the cupcake with Designer paper ( Fancy Pants) flower petals (Michael's) and tiny pink hearts, brad and a Happy Birthday pennant.

Lastly creating these altered jumbo clothespins has to be my all time favorite. I get to be as creative and dimensional as I want!! I purchased the clothespin from Hobby Lobby and covered both sides with two layers of Designer Paper by My Minds Eye called Lost & Found this is another one of my favs. I embellished my clothespins with Prima roses, trim, fabric swirls ( Michael's) and an abundance of bling!!

A Real Trooper!!

I have recently had a little tragedy around my house my 8 year old son broke his arm. It was a pretty severe break which included him needing a rod through his ulna and two pins on either side of his wrist and a psychiatrist for me (just kidding - the LORD is my Primary Care Provider.) Out of seven children es is the first and last to have broken a bone. This was very traumatic for him and for myself and I think I took it harder mentally than he did!

Just wanted to share a few projects and also a video on glittering. First I will start with the Altered Clipboard, I really like doing these projects because I can continue add and embellish to my hearts content.

New Designer at Work

Simply Scrapping Crafts Blog Hop

Today Simply Scrapping Crafts is having a Blog Hop to share different masking techniques.Masking is the technique of covering a stamped image so that other images may be placed partly over it without the overlapping area being visible. When using this masking technique patience and careful cutting is required and that is a little difficult for me because I want instant gratification. I actually did have lots of fun with this project. I am not very skilled in the arts of copic painting or pencil paints but I did color my card.

Hello All,

You know how I'm all into PINK and it's hard for me to shake it, but I do like shabby vintage things as well and K&Company came out with a really nice Americana slab of paper. Couple gorgeous paper and some soothing instrumental music and I'm on my way. Here's a few crafts I'd like to share with you today.

The first creation was an america banner. I used my Birthday Bash cricut cartridge, the letters were actually from the K&Company paper and I punch them out with my circle punch. I also decorated the banner with stars, gems & ribbon. At the bottom of the R I dangled some chandelier crystals.

Next my favorite thing to do and that is making paper bag brag books. I have taken pics of a few pages inside the book. This is truly a nice slab of paper and you can do so much with it. I actually created two cards pictured below.

Pardon Me But Has Anyone Seen MAY!!

This is absolutely crazy I looked at my last blog post and it was last updated May 1st. I almost panicked, I couldn't believe that it had been that long since I posted. This has been an extremely busy month as is most months, but being a homeschool mom I have really had to batten down the hatches with my children to finish up for Summer. I'm sure this year we'll have to do some classes through the Summer to catch up. But no worries it keeps them engaged and their young minds from being idol.

Simply Scrapping Crafts News

I have a couple of things to share today as well as some crafts I'd like to post. As I told you earlier this month I am on the design team with Simply Scrapping Crafts and there's a lot going on with updating the site and it looks great! This site is packed with so much information and Judy Law ( site owner) who is also a very godly woman desires to make this site a "Stop, Crop & Shop." It's really great and the other design team ladies are wonderful. My group is still a work in progress but my first Card Workshop is scheduled for June 5th. I will be posting Greeting Card Workshops every Sunday and I hope that you'll stop by, join the site and participate. I'll post more information soon!!

I have been busy working on different projects to go in the store and I actually finished some UnFinished projects that I had been working on for a while so I felt pretty good. The first thing I want to share with you is a cute little brag book. If you know anything about me I really like making little things and brag books especially because you get to decorate them continually adding a little bit of this and a little bit of that until you just have to say FINISHED!!

Next I'd like to share a few other designs. Simply Scrapping Crafts recently had card challenge using buttons and bows which inspired me to make this card. I didn't submit this card but I'll also post the one card that I made for the Challenge: ( which I entered "just for fun & inspiration"). I also created a flowerpot bookmark and next some framed art which I used an embroidery hoop as the frame. This was such a neat idea that I got out of a craft magazine.

I recycled the button packaging for an embellishment for my card.

When you pull the flower out it is a bookmark. Sorry I didn't show it :-(

Lastly I'd like to share a few of my creations for my Sew Cute line. A Silly overstuffed Strawberry, A lovely little pillow using lace and one snippets of a fabric floral trim and lastly my favorite an overly stuffed Simply Plump Heart with beautiful layers of fabric floral petals.

EXCITING NEWS

I am so excited this has been a Wonderful day for me. The LORD blessed us with a wonderful church service, beautiful weather, my daughter-in-loves baby shower and then the cherry on top was that I was selected to be on the design team for Simply Scrapping Crafts !!!!!! I am super excited and I hope that you will check this site out, it is packed with Tutorials, Challenges and the SSC online store is coming soon. I will be on the design team for the Greeting Card Sunday Group. Everyone in this group is wonderful, very welcoming, up beat and encouraging. Investments or Whims??

Hmmmm! This is a good question, I have really been trying to evaluate my purchases lately when it comes to crafting products. It seems that every new product that comes out I have an, "I'VE GOTTA HAVE IT" mentality. Well I'm working on it but for now I'll share with you my new purchases, I think one was a whim and the other was an investment. I will definitely be using them both.

I'll start with the whim ( I think ) So there was this really good deal on a Teacup and Saucer die cut by Sizzix, Oh the possibilities and it is soooo cute...Mother's day right around the corner, "I'VE GOTTA HAVE IT." Well one thing I know for sure is that I am NOT a hoarder, I broke open the package right away and to my dismay I needed and extender plate...Waaaaahhhh!!! luckily for me the Michael's close to me had one and I literally grabbed my homeschooling 7yr old and rushed to the store to get it. I got back home and I commenced to a wonderful time of making my little tea cups and here they are:

Okay and here is the biggie!!!!!!!!!!! Now I must say that I will classify this as an investment. I purchased the Cricut Expression II Anniversary Edition. This cricut is loaded with all kinds of good stuff, several new features: 4 preloaded cartridges ( all of which I don't have) and a touch screen. I am so excited I can't wait to get it. I have a unique gift and it is an internal UPS radar, I can just feel them coming from miles away. Seriously...I get this little tingle and an aura that say's they are around the corner :-).

April Blog Hop Entry

Altered Clipboard

Here is my entry for this months Blog Hop with Simply Scrapping Crafts. I have really enjoyed this site and look forward to hopefully working with them in the near future.

This altered project is a regular clipboard that I decoupaged with paper by My Minds Eye called "Lost and Found" This is such beautiful paper accented with gorgeous glitters. I painted and distressed the clip of the board and embellished it with Mulberry paper roses by Recollections ( Michael's product.) This line of paper comes with a matching acrylic stamp set and I used the birdcage to stamp each page of the jr note pad which I had cut in half to create a slender writing surface. I also embellished with other petite flowers and pearls. I had a wonderful time creating this piece of art with this months blog in mind.

Sew Much Ado About Everything

Hello just posting a little love today. My crafty pals who know me very well know that I am a person who knows nothing about sewing, but I try so very hard. Well last week I made this Super Sweet plump heart pillow and it turned out great. Most of the time my sewing machines don't like me and they give me a really hard time because they know I don't know how to fix the problem, but this particular day I was feeling rather ambitious and stuck with it. The end results made it all worth it. The fabic came from Hobby Lobby and I used a huge chipboard heart as the template for my pillow. I ran several different pieces of fabric through my die cut machine for the flower. I used a button for the center of the flower.

Lastly a pal of mine gave me some beautiful fabric from Joann's Fabric and I just had to do something with it. So I made one of my old creations, a post it note holder. To embellish, I cut several flower petal and layered them. I used a beautiful blingy button for the flower center.

I'm OOBER Excited!!

"OOBER" meaning extremely excited, which is the vernacular of my 25 year old daughter, who is visiting me along with her hubby and new born baby Israel. I'm oober excited about two things, the visit of my oldest daughter and her sweet little family and the fact that I still have some creativity left in me. It has been such a world wind for me these last couple of months, I find myself trying to come up for air to breath. I have been so busy with special orders and the new baby that my creative juices haven't been flowing lately, but alas on last Saturday, the day before my daughter arrived, the creative bug hit me and I was on a crafting rampage. I was working on two and three projects simultaneously and literally turning around in circles trying to figure out what to do next. My mind was racing 100 miles per hour as I could not keep up with myself. With beautiful soothing Christian classics playing and a mess of crafting supplies and embellishments just calling my name, I set out on a journey and here's what I came up with:

Bliss Banner

I made this banner with my Birthday Bash Cricut cartridge and embellished with coffee stained lace. Each banner has a piece of the organza rose trim Fleurette's, the bows are seam binding and the letters that spell BLISS were also cut out using the same cartridge. The letters are glittered with chocolate glitter and I mixed in a little bit of gold glitter to give it a rich look.

This little beauty is actually and altered project, I found this cute basket in the shape of a nest and their were two eggs in it. I removed the egg and added this papermache heart, which I painted with a mint green and lightly dusted with stardust glitter. This glitter is gorgeous it actually looks like chips of crystals and it is very sparkly. I added a butterfly which many of my friends know I am terribly afraid of and this butterfly was so life-like I was actually afraid to touch it, so I put a rose in the center of it. I used one of my favorite scriptures to finish it off, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding," Proverbs 3:5.

Closer look inside the nest, a few gems, pearls & feathers

I was really proud of this birdcage because I bought it last year and new that one day I would do something with it, I just didn't know what. I knew I wanted to make a nest and I made one several weeks ago and it just sat on my craft shelf waiting to be put somewhere and this is what happened when fate met fate. Remember those eggs I told you were in the nest basket? Well here they are! The scripture I used for this project was Psalms 84:2, "Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God." This is such a beautiful Psalms, King David truly was envious of the birds who were able to be so close to GOD and dwell near to Him and that was also his desire.

This was pretty quick to make but I really like jars, so I altered this a bit by adding ribbon, a mulberry rose, leaf and lace around the top base of the jar. I like the little birdie on top.

I thought this was a pretty sweet wall hanging for a little girls picture. It is loaded with embellishments. The mat itself is cut from chipboard and a cricut die cut (can't remember which one.) Distressed & Shabby, just the way I like it!

This is probably by far the funnest thing I like to make. It's small, It's super cute and useful. It is so easy to make using a yo yo template. I topped it off with a very blingy button that I layer on top of another button and then put that on top of a tiny yo yo. Pretty sweet!

Something Wonderful

Hello All,
Just needed to drop a few lines and apologize for not posting in a while. I have been super, super busy and there are so many things going on that I can't seem to catch up. I have been wonderfully swamped with wedding invitations & party favors, birthdays and other types of orders. It has been great and lastly but most importantly I was gone for a week to witness the birth of my 2nd grand child. It was such a thrill to be on the other side of the birthing bed. GOD is truly amazing to have created such a wonderful moment in time. It is something that I will never forget. Life is amazing, the same one I gave birth to over twenty-five years ago was at that moment giving birth herself. Totally amazing!! Well let's say that this post is about a creation and one that was fashioned by the Masters Hand! Congratulations Kemis and Ben on our beautiful new boy, Israel Alan Hancock, born February 21st, weighing 7lbs 6 oz.

Mini Gatefold Scrapbook Class

Things have been so busy around my house I can't seem to keep up with the days! I want to stay consistent with all of my responsibilities and it is proven to be a real challenge. Besides Homeschooling, keeping my home in order, doing my duties for our church...it amazes me that I can get a handle on my crafts. I truly enjoy all that I do and I am really Blessed to do them ALL!!! I have a phenomenal husband who supports all of my different duties and whims. I also have Great kids who are sweet enough to allow me to do everything I need to do while they do all that they need to do, By GOD's Grace. Well, all that said, I have put together a lovely little class that I think would be truly wonderful to do. I will be teaching the class here in the San Antonio. CREATE IN ME...

This has always been my hearts cry to the LORD and as I look forward to my life in 2011, this will yet be my plea! I am so looking forward to new things in 2011 and 2010 was a total Blessing! I have learned that through all of my adversities in this life, by GOD's Grace I am still standing! I am wishing you all an extremely prosperous New Year especially spiritually and physically and I pray for GOD's Blessings upon you all. Forget the resolutions and just be resolved to do those things that are needed to be done in your lives.

I have a few things to share with you today and for those of you who know me are well aware that I am a Pinkasoraus so here me ROAR!!!! I just adore this season of love during Valentines day and I get to be just as pink as I want and trust me I will be doing pink.

First I want to share with you a beautiful homemade cheese cake done by none other than my

Tom Sawyer-like son. This kid amazes me he really likes to make the hard stuff, the more directions the better. Well he made the family a "Company Cheesecake" and I told him this was the best homemade cheesecake I have ever eaten and I was not be overly polite. He always wants the truth and I make sure I tell him even if it hurts. So my latest critique on his cheesecake put him on cloud nine. I sure wish you could taste it, but here's a pic:

I had such a great time creating these next to items. I used some of my favorite paper by the Girls Paperie I simply adore this paper and I am really going to be sad when it's all gone. This was created with a paper- mache house that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. It was meant for the top roof to stay affixed to the house but I used my craft knife and separated it so now It is a box and there is stationary inside. Sorry I didn't take a pic of that. The roof was done with layers of scallops. I decorated with banners and tiny pompom ribbons. There is a resin heart by Melissa Francis and I sprayed the little rose with Vanilla Smooch. I think that this spray is going to be a new fave for me. I attached the rose to a little pin and stuck it in the chimney.

Next I have my little mailbox. I really enjoy working with mailboxes I think they are simply too cute and made little cards to go in side. I also used the same line of paper from the Girls Paperie to cover my mail box. I had fun embellishing and I tried not to go overboard. Sometimes I can get a little carried away, just like a little kid, I want to stick everything on it.

Well that's it for now, I'm working on some more stuff because after today, it's going to be hard to get crafting in because Winter break is officially OVER!!! WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

So Much Going On

Hello All,

I am literally stealing a moment from time to drop off a couple of pics of some creations I did this week. Christmas and Valentines day are my busiest and most creative time of year. Both of these holidays are filled with my favorite colors and my favorite feeling, LOVE!!

I have a pic of a Giant clothes pin, I've done one before on my blog but I used that gorgeous line of paper from My Minds Eye called Lost & Found. This paper is absolutely gorgeous and when Jane runs out of it at the Scrapbooking Factory I think I am going to go through a little mourning period :-(

I also created a few cute Christmas cards and a Christmas tree from this same line. I can't seem to make enough of those trees. Each time a bring one into the store at the Alamo Craft Co, it sales within a day or two. And that's a great thing, I'm not complaining. I also made a "use your imagination" kind of whimsical tree with graduated sizes of circles. My husband laughed at these sweet little vintage circular trees, he said they didn't make any sense at all and I told him they didn't have to. I've made several and I've sold every one. This was a great thing to do with scraps. I didn't want to through a shred of the that Lost&Found paper away!!!

A Passion for Lovely Cards

Creating cards was my first passion in paper art and it eventually opened up new avenues of creations. I was never into crafty artwork, I felt it was a waste of time and I had no time for it. When I became a stay at home mom and left the hectic life of health insurance something new happened...I learned to create. The pay is definitely not as good, but I am much happier. I have my LORD, my Husband, my Children and lastly my crafts. There are times when that order gets a little muddled, but the LORD seems to always help bring me back.

Here are a few cards that I have created in the last couple of months.

I also recently did a craft show and I hadn't done one in such a long time, it was such a lot of work and I'm glad I did it but I'm much gladder that it's over. Here's a few pics of my display and the last two pictures are of my mock display at home. I like to set up at home so that I will have an idea of how I'd like the booth to look at the show.

Darker Days and Creative Nights

I had an absolutely wonderful time last night at Nack's Desserts, Jackie "Nack" Harris the owner asked if I would teach craft classes to a group of ladies and of course I was delighted to do it. Today was the first time teaching at her Delicious bakery. Once inside Nack's I can't help but look through each glass showcase and even peering over the counter and into the kitchen to see what she's cooking... there is just something about desserts that makes my heart sing! All of the delicious smells, and beautiful pastries, cake, pies...must I go on! Just so you'll know Nack's is a premier bakery on the NW side of San Antonio and I guarantee you, if you try her delicacies once, you'll be hooked. I love the line from her website that says, "Remember 'STRESSED' spelled backwards is 'DESSERTS'. We're here to relieve your stress." LOVE IT!!!

Well as I was saying this was my first class at Nack's and I had a great time with five wonderful ladies. There was a seasoned paper crafters, an artist and some who had never made a card, but by looking at the finished project you couldn't tell the difference. They all did a wonderful job and as Jackie has her special flair for food, she also had a special flair for creating her own design for her cards. There is always one super over-achiever in a group. Well done Jackie!! And after all was crafted and done Jackie was gracious enough to add the Pièce de résistance, her yummy pumpkin bread and the best chocolate chip cookies ( with everything in it) that I have ever had. I even got to take home the left overs! Here's a few pics of my wonderful evening:

I have'nt really posted any of my Fall creations and I didn't want to be remiss in doing that so I am attaching a few things that I made. Many of you that know me are aware that I am a Fall "chicken" and I am proud of it! But that does not put a damper on my creativity, I get a little more festive around Christmas and my creativity blossoms. I forced myself this year to do some things for Fall and here's what I came up with:

A young lady after my own heart! My son got married Sunday October 31st and I'm telling you I am now officially a pro at a marriage in a minute. Kids can really put parents in the bind with last minute things but I think a marriage requires lots of planning and preparation, but then again, no, not really we put it together in less than 24 hrs. It was a whimsical day the weather was absolutely perfect. My son wanted to get married in the backyard in front of the loquat tree that he planted from a seed which now stands as tall as the house. Our backyard has always held very special memories for us and the beautiful weather was made to perfection. My new daughter-in-law turns out to be a very crafty young lady and she wanted to create her own bridal bouquet from felt, cutting each flower by hand. She also made her wedding headband and the boutonnieres for the grooms men as well, with felt flowers. She did an amazing job! So amazing in fact that she wouldn't throw her bouquet because she wanted to keep it. She also made bouquets of flowers for the ladies.

I just want to thank the LORD for a Beautiful day! The LORD shined His glorious Son down upon us and even gave us a gentle breeze.

A Little Whimsy & Simply Sweet

I have really enjoyed my little creative moment with the Lost and Found paper by My Minds Eye. I have created some lovely cards and sold several of the cards already but I wanted to do something a little whimsical and fun with that line of paper. So I created an album using the bird shape chipboard album that I purchased from Michael's. I had lots of fun creating this book especially the embellishments. I am posting a couple of shots:

I can't believe I totally fell head over hills for this blue paper, but it's so lovely!!

I also enjoyed creating paper designs with the pink and brown glittered paper from the same Lost & Found Line. There are actually 4 different color schemes. I'm sure these papers would make exquisite layouts but I wanted to explore other things.

In this picture I have created 2 Simply lovely cards and covered a Jr. legal pad that has been cut in half. These pads are so easy to make and so much fun to embellish.

Well I'm off to Oklahoma with the family and will post some more things that I created for fall. Have a Blessed Weekend!!

Craft Class Today and Challenge Update

Hello All!!

Just wanted to say hi and I was itching to submit a post. Posting to me is like journaling and I journal a lot. I pray that you all are having a very blessed, peaceful and relaxing weekend. Today was my craft class and I had a wonderful time with these ladies. We learned and laughed, crafted and created! It was a sweet time of fellowship! I like challenges and I participate whenever I can. I just completed a challenge from a fun blog site called Picture Perfect Creations. Creating cards from challenges can be quite a challenge for me and this is usually because I can't really use my favorite colors, so it usually takes me a little while to think up something. Tonight I really had a challenge because I've been working with Fallish colors quite abit this week and these beautiful colors made me have to rethink my color combos... But alas' I think my creativity kicked in and I had an opportunity to use a new jar stamp by Inkadkinkado. Here's a picture of the swatch and my card. Tell me what you think and also wish me luck !

Absolutely Lovely Line

Just wanted to share some pretty cards I made with some absolutely lovely paper. Nothing in crafting excites me more than seeing beautiful paper, I get inspired almost immediately. I am mostly a 99% pinky person but when I saw this paper by My Minds Eye I had to have it. I was so excited that Jane ordered it and I pray that she will sell lots of it. I know that this line of paper would make fabulous layouts but I just had to make some cards and here they are

I used a the birdcage die cut from Tim Holtz, it is complete with the bird on a perch and the butterfly die cut is from Martha Stewart. I thought it needed something so I added some ribbon through the cage on this next pic:

Next on the same 12x12 sheet there was wonderful postage prints glittered with a lovely silver lining and a bird. This picture came out a bit dark but I think you can still see all of the lovely.

Something Sweet, Something Lovely, Something Fall

Okay, for something sweet...Get a load of this gorgeous apple pie and you might ask what's so special about it? Well this here apple pie was made by my 13yr old son who has no previous cooking experience but a great desire to cook. He wants to cook everything! This is a fresh baked apple pie, no canned fruit or store bought pie crust for this kid, it's all scratch. He even figured out the lattice layering. Not only was this a beautiful pie but it was delicious! When this kid is not out spending his down time doing tricks on his bike, skateboarding, climbing to the very top of the magnolia tree and scaring the heck out of me, he's cookin' up some good stuff!! Thanks FRED!

Something Lovely

I have been wanting to make a card for some time and it just hasn't been easy with school starting back and all of my other duties, but the other night, I had to make a card and here's what I came up with. I really liked the colors on this card and all the embellishments. I used a resin flower by Jolee's and some paper by the Girl's Paperie, a bird die cut from the same line, pearls and pink organza ribbon around the birds tail feathers. I thought this was a pretty nice card. Haven't decided if I'm going to put it in my booth a the store or send it to a friend....hmmmm I wonder?

Something Fall...

Well the weather changed and it was an absolutely beautiful tranquil day. The weather was perfect, slightly chilly in the morning to a very nice slightly warm afternoon. I'm thinking just a hint of Fall. So I thought it would be a good time to show off my little pumpkins. I really love pretty fabric and I enjoy creating quick fabric crafts that don't require lots of work and I can get instant gratification. Aren't they cute?? Upcycling Aye Aye Captain!

Hello Everyone, it has been a very busy week and I am in the process of working on my schedule for this upcoming school year...To all of you praying Saints out there please pray for me. Some of you know that I am a homeschooling mom to three children and each year it gets just a little more challenging. I am blessed to be able to homeschool, but strategy can always be an arduous feat at times. This week I have nothing Super exciting but I do have some very useful NEWS!!!!

I don't know about you but I have such a problem throwing away scraps that come from beautiful paper and I try to use up every bit of it. So for those of you who are like me and have a heart for paper and can't bare to get rid of it I have just the thing for you. I was able to take scraps like these

and turn them into these fabulous creations like these, bookmarks and Jumbo Paper clip bookmarks. I eventually put ribbon on the paper bookmarks. So the next time you can't think of what to do with those scraps just think outside the scrap page and make something COOL!

Strawberrylicious Treat

Saturday Morning Blessings to Everyone,
Wow, This has really been a busy Summer and I think I have heard that same sentiment from most everyone I've talked to. Where did the Summer go???? There is one thing that is certain about time, It waits for no one, you can either hop the Merry-go-round or just stand there and let it pass you by and believe me, it will pass you by.

I was working on a cute little craft last night while watching, "One Night With The King" the biblical story of Esther ( which they took a lot of liberties I might add in retelling the account,) one of my favorite movies. It seemed as though it took me forever to make these little treats but boy are the cute. I'm going to rush to put them in my booth this morning, but they had to have a photo shoot first so that I could show them to you. Hopefully they won't stay in my booth long, however sometimes I would like for an item to stay in my booth a little longer because it makes my area look so CUTE!!! Ah the dilemma of it all, "to sell or not to sell, that is the question?" Are you kidding me? SELL! SELL! SELL!

Okay one more post before I go to bed, those of you who know me, know that I am a Shabby Chic kinda woman. I simply adore the vintage, lacy, pinky, rosy, lemony and limeony (???) colors. They make me happy and when I can find that perfect mixture I can create something really fun. One of my all time favorite paper designers is Melissa Phillip's, whenever I need a little push to get started I go to her site. Her blog writings also compliment her work, she has a very sweet spirit.

HAPPY MONDAY

Hello Everyone,
Hope this is a blessed day for you, I woke up with a wicked migraine but still managed to get this posting out after taking some meds. I worked on some projects last night to put in my booth at the store and I'm going to try and make a bunch. I'm trying to keep the "Going Back To School" theme in mind and make little gifts for teachers and students.

The first project are Bookmarks made with jumbo paper clips that I purchased from HEB for $1 ( Plastic Container of 25) I will think of something cute to do with the container later. These bookmarks were made with scraps that I couldn't bare throwing away.

This next project is a cute little paper treat "fold" idea made for Kitkat bars. I used cutesy paper by Crate Paper & My Minds Eye.

These cute little baskets I've made before but I really like the texture of the crate paper double-sided design for the cuteness and sturdiness factor. I'm not sure what I'm going to fill these up with but it definitely will not be the truffles that I have in this pic, they were just for affect and I'm eating the chocolate.

Lastly I couldn't have ended my work without my first love of crafts so I created a nice card for a teacher

I actually used the back of new line of paper that The Scrapbooking Factory Just got in called JOY RIDE by Cosmo Cricket. I suppose the black paper with the dashed and solid lines are suppose to be roads, but they look like school paper to me, so I thought it would go great with my teacher card. I cut out the apple with my Cricut (George Basic Sampler.) I have been waiting for the moment to use my self adhesive cork paper that I got from Michael's and last night I did it. YEAH!!

Lastly here is my latest layout that I will be displaying in Jane's store at the Scrapbooking Factory. I thought It came out pretty cute, it's funny now all of a sudden my children are taking a little bit of interest in what I display. Trust me it's not a compliment to my work the kids just want to make sure that I'm not putting anything out that will embarrass them!

I used a really lovely set of papers from My Little Yellow Bicycle called "Zinnia." These are not my favorite papers but they really are lovely and I can't do everything "PINK" all of the time!

More Creations

I have been very busy the last couple of weeks and found the opportunity to do a bit of crafting and wanted to share with you some of my creations. Some old, some new and some altered ideas...

These little diaper fold treat containers are so easy and so cute that you could just sit there and fold and fold and fold. Since I have a booth at the Alamo Craft Co. I make most of my craft designs to sale. I taught this as a Make & Take class during one of the Scrapbooking Factories Monthly Weekend Crops. The ladies really enjoyed it. I am really fond of the "Quite Contrary" line by My Minds Eye, it is so fun and the thick weight of the paper is perfect for its sturdiness. The Prima floral flower petals where absolutely perfect for this project. I also cut out circles of various shapes using contrasting scraps and made "A Treat For You" tag, I also used the clear decorative cellophane bags that I got from Michael's, the bags have a drawstring ribbon already attached. These would make great party favors especially for a baby shower.

Next I made a couple of purses using a scalloped shape from the Cricuts, "Bags, Tags & Boxes" I used the 5 1/2 setting and then I cut it in half for a front and back. I also used Bazzil Paper flowers, Prima leaves and BoBunny Rhinestones for the flower Center. I used a small paper bag to adhere the scalloped shape to the front and Bag. I eventually thought the bags needed a little something more so I added some pink organza ribbon, which made even prettier. Sorry I didn't update the photo, but can't you just see it?

Next I was at Hobby Lobby looking for something specific and I ran across this really cute Canvas Bag and I had to grab one because I knew that there was something I could do with it. I thought about this really pretty set of fabric flowers that I saw at The Scrapbooking Factory and I knew that it would be perfects. Voila' here is the results, it matched the canvas bag perfectly. I really like that the flower petal is over sized and hangs over the bag a little here and a little their. It's just like my life sometimes, so I can relate. I've got to get more bags!!!!

The Scrapbooking Factory Fun

I had a great time with the ladies at last weeks weekend crop we did a fun make and take using the diaper fold and the ladies really enjoyed it. Simple and quick I think that's the way they like it. One of the ladies made a bunch, I think she's hooked and she probably still making them right now!! ( smile ) Take a look at those smiles.

Okay, I also have a confession to make, I am a glue monger for Tombo glue, for some reason I think that the world is going to run out of Tombo glue so I have to get as much as I can so that I will never run out! Is that ridiculous or what? Here is my wonderful glue collection. I actually did a purge a few months ago, it was worst than this because I wouldn't throw a single bottle away in case there was a sing drop in the bottle that I could use, I beat and tap the bottle until I can squeeze it and nothing comes out but air. Ummm do you think there might be a problem?

My Newest Layout

Okay,

I have a confession, I have designed layouts for other people but rarely have I sat down and done any for myself, so now since I'm working with Jane at the Scrapbooking Factory, she told me that I was going to have to brush up and so that's exactly what I am doing and I am having a wonderful time. It's something that is for me and my family to enjoy and I'm usually doing things for other people and now I have a great since of how special it really is. I showed this layout to my children and they were like, "Hey mom, that's cool !" and they really looked at it, not one of those side way glances and it was a different, "that's cool." Usually when I show them a finished product they give me sort of a congenial that's nice mom. I think I'm really going to enjoy this more than before....Hmmmm, I think I need to see about getting me a really, really good

camera :-)

By the way, I used designer cardstock by The Girls Paperie called On Holiday. The base background paper is from Making Memories, it actually went rather nicely with this layout and the theme is similar. Michael's has this paper on the discount aisle so I'm sure it's on it way out. I purchased the On Holiday Paper from The Scrapbooking Factory.

Elegant and Sweet

I have been diligently working with Jane this week helping to get things set up at her new store and everything is coming together. If I could only stop gawking, I think I'm enjoying getting to go through all of the beautiful papers and what not. After a hard couple of hours of work I needed to relax and my therapy is crafting. I was so inspired by all of the beautiful lines of designer papers that I grabbed some and headed home. I am really adoring The Girls Paperie right now, it truly reflects how I see things in life and that would be pink, pretty and precious!!! I've created a lovely little house, brag book and card with this line. I have used lots of embellishments by Prima, such as flowers, lace and pearls. ENJOY!!! I sure did while making them.

July Make & Take

Hello All,

Here's a little something I created for a future Make & Take. It's a sweet little treat box & card set. I was trying to come up with something simple and this was it. I will be using a different paper but the design will be the same...hmmmm .... maybe...Sometimes I get to fiddling around some more and then up pops a different design. Actually the more I think about it I'm always using butterflies maybe this time we could use a little bird...Oh well, we'll see in a couple of weeks.

New Tag Book Class!!!

I will be teaching a New Tag Book class in July at The Scrapbooking Factory’s weekend Crop located at the Hilton Hill Country Hotel & Spa off of 151.

This is a really fun book, you can journal and add pictures to the tags. The eye catching paper we will be using is called "Watercolor" by Prima as well as flower petals and lace also by Prima. We will bling it up with, “Say It With Crystal” flourishes and Pearls by Queen& Co. Of course lots of ribbon and some acrylic stamping.

Crafting Madness

I woke up and told the LORD, "Good Morning!" What a wonderful blessing to be able to that. Today was a full day of work, with the children and other important stuff. But for some reason I was in the mood to craft and sometimes crafting for me is like music that calms the savage beast.

Well all that said, I made some really neat stuff ( I think). Melissa Phillips with Lilybean Paperie is one of my all time faves. I just love her colors and designs, they are so busy and they are so ME. She made a lovely tag hanging that I just needed to try and so here is my rendition... Well, I guess I was getting really involved and I had a couple of items that I had wanted to work on for sometime and now felt pretty good, so I kept on going. I had this 12' ginormous clothes pin that I thought would be pretty neat to decorate and I also had a cutesy bird and cage die cut by Tim Holtz that Jennifer with Scrapbook 911 cut out for me. I think they are the only store in town that has this die cute and a couple of other really cute ones. Anyway I knew I would be able to do something with that as well. I used paper that I got from Michael's by Making Memories called Passport. So think about it, bird cage with bird, giant clothespin and super fun paper...hm mm...Sounds like a winner to me. Here's what I came up with.

Lastly I made a card. I remember when I could crank out about 10 cards in one setting, but lately I have been so busy I haven't had much time, but I made a deal with myself that each time I made a project I would also include a well thought out card and here is my card for today.I used a toile flower and lace by Prima and printed card stock by The Girls Paperie called Paper Girl and rub on by Fancy Pants called Simplicity.

To day was my first class teaching for Jane at The Scrapbooking Factory, she is such a sweet person and her croppers are a bunch of sweet ladies. Just being surrounded by these Scrapbooking guru's can be a bit intimidating but, I enjoyed looking at all of their work and checking out the new gadgets. If you want to see whats new on the market go to a scrapbooking crop or retreat and they've got it ALL!!!

I can't believe that July is already upon us. Red, White, and Blue are such bold colors, but sometimes it's hard for me to make patriotic cards. I tried getting different shades of Red, white and blue and that seemed to work for me. So here is my first 4th of July card, but could actually be for anytime...I'm going to keep working on it.

Early this morning my computer decided to cease to function and of course that sent me in a tizzy for several reasons which I will spare you all the gory details. Well I decided that since that was the case I would spend my day simply crafting and so I DID!!!! Well I had a great time and even went to a craft class this morning at the Alamo Craft Co. Kim a blessing of a friend of mine taught the class. We made something really cute and I'll share it a little further down on my post.

The first thing I would like to share is that fact that I serve an Amazing GOD!!! who makes ALL things possible because if it weren't for HIM I would be lost. I am also grateful that he gave my Wonderful husband the wisdom and the healing touch to get my computer running again which is how I am even able to do any posts today. Thank You Punkin' !!

I found some really cute material today at Hobby Lobby on the 50% off rack and I bet I'll regret not buying the whole thing there was on a little left but me an my frugality's..... Anyway Here's a the cutesy tissue box cover and little plush pillows with flowers that I die cut with my Big Kick. These are super easy to make they measure 4 1/2 x 5' squares.

I also pressed out my flowers with this really cute little iron my dear friend Louise bought for me.

She knows how much I love gadgets. I wonder would that make me a gadgeteer.

Lastly here is the sweetest, cutest, miniest, felt craft I made today....I really like cupcakes, so I think this looks like a cupcake, how about you???
